Our Story

When two paths meet that share a passion for great food and good cheer, a natural friendship grows. Coupled with complimentary entrepreneurial strengths, the ultimate business partnership is formed. Born on different continents, roads converged in Athens GA for Sachin Patel, Five Points Bottle Shop co-owner, and Scott Parrish, wine and hospitality expert.

Sharing a deep knowledge of cuisine and libation along with uncanny sociability, the pair opened their first restaurant together, The Pine, in 2014. Just four years later, Scott and Sachin co-founded SP2 Hospitality, a multi-concept operator of establishements specializing in bringing artisan dining and craft drink experiences to life with community focused, personable service.

With a desire to do more than just ‘serve food’, the pair are adamant about providing a warm and welcoming place for patrons, whether for the perfect meal or a night to remember. The key ingredient of every SP2 experience, they believe, is a sense of friendly people, good times and memorable moments spent together. Now with a total of four establishments (and one in the works) under its banner,  SP2 delivers highly celebrated dining experiences in a neighborhood setting.

Whether you’re looking for a seat on a patio, a seasonal cocktail, a southern-inspired meal, or scrumptious bowling alley snacks and beer, SP2 is always at the heart of fun. Offering something for friends, family and unforgettable special occasions, come be our guest.

Our Timeline

2014

A Pine grows in Five Points

With little more than a handshake and a mutual instinct for geniune hospitality, Sachin and Scott become official restauranteurs opening The Pine Food and Drink. While experts in their respective industries, the indomitable partners shoot from the hip to conquer inevitable challenges on their maiden restaurant adventure together. But who would have ever known; calm, cool and collected was always the order of the day. Carry on!

2015

Putting down Roots

The Pine quickly branched out as the go-to place for delicious new-south fare and memorable occasions in the amiable Five Points neighborhood. But when it became apparent that guests wanted to linger longer, The Root Basement Bar was a natural addition. A popular watering hole for young professionals and local chums, The Root easily takes hold for the sophomore venture of Sachin and Scott.

2016

11th Pin Roll Out

Some say a bowling alley is the poor man’s country club; but there’s nothing poor about it when you have the 11th Pin serving it up. Sachin and Scott clean up the strikes and find that no split’s too wide if you have mouthwatering, gotta-have concession fix and libatious drink. The pair turn it up with this unlikely offshoot — and that’s just how they roll.

2018

S.P. times 2 = SP2

Four years — four brands; with a fifth in the works, guiño guiño, Sachin Patel and Scott Parrish form the banner company SP2 Hospitality. Created to streamline efforts and consolidate their mission, the pair with matching initials, commit to continue to offer charming establishments where folks gather to eat, drink and be merry. Inspiring takes on the classics served with just plain niceness accentuate the dining experience for guests.
